Hidden in the north-east of Piedmont is probably the greenest valley in Italy, which you can best experience on a fantastic hike. The starting point is in the small, quite outlying village of Campello Monti. After almost 9 km in length and a good 750 m difference in altitude, you will hike along an old trading and pilgrimage path over the mountain range to the beautiful Walser village of Rimella in Valsesia.
on the way up
again and again you see beautiful small waterfalls

mountain huts still inhabited in summer
view into the valley to Rimella
On the highest point of the crossing you should definitely stay a little. You have a wonderful view of the path you have covered and the coming valley towards Rimella. If you take a lot of pictures and want to enjoy the hike, maybe with a picnic, you should plan on about 5 hours. The landscape appears most beautiful in the afternoon or early evening. The oblique incident light set the contours of this almost untouched landscape softly and yet rich in contrast.
